WHAT’S A GARVIN?
When Garvin was 16, he met his first love. She was 38 years old, black, loud, and a thousand pounds. We’re talking about a 1927 Franklin, with an air cooled engine, narrow steel front body pillar, a true work of art. Men would whistle at her when he took her into town. Garv never minded. In fact, it started a passion in his loins that bore through him, like oxygen and petrol through a dual carburetor system, giving him new energy, exceptional fuel load acceptance and engine balance. Yes, this was the girl that started it all. She made him see life in a new light. Headlights, specifically.
For the last 50 years, Garvin owned and operated Gardens Under Glass (GUG), a Terrarium manufacturing company in Los Angeles, as he collected classic cars on the side, and made friends with car enthusiasts all over the country. After retiring, he decided to put his garage and his network of friends to good use, and GUG became Garvin’s Unique Garage. He began renting out cars to Hollywood and Film Production companies in 2008 for fun and it soon became a second career. Garvin has had his vehicles featured in over 100 major motion pictures, music videos, tv shows, and commercials.
A husband, and a father of 3 grown children, Garvin has a full home, an overflowing garage, and a strong desire to find jobs that get him out of the house.
